About Modern Mellow

Modern Mellow launched in July 2026 as a gift to the contemporary instrumental music community — a home for the artists, DJs, and listeners who’ve been without a proper chart since Zone Music Reporter went dark.

For years, ZMR gave this genre something it desperately needed: a shared, credible measure of what mattered. Its absence left a gap that no single station or blog could fill. Modern Mellow is built to be that successor — a chart built from real airplay, reported by the DJs and radio shows who actually program this music, and open to the artists and labels who make it.

This is a community project first. It exists to serve the genre, not the other way around.
